CERi is a Kigali-based civil engineering consultancy bringing together technical expertise, thoughtful design and environmental responsibility. We design infrastructure that serves communities, works with natural systems and responds to the needs of each place.

Every project brings together the needs of people, the character of the land and the movement of water. Understanding these relationships is the starting point of our work.
We collaborate with clients, architects, landscape designers and other specialists to integrate civil infrastructure into the wider project vision. Our work connects grading and earthworks, stormwater management, water supply, wastewater systems, access roads and utilities—from early assessments and design through construction-stage support.
By considering these systems together, we help teams resolve site constraints, use resources efficiently and develop coordinated solutions that can be built, operated and maintained with confidence.

For CERi, regenerative infrastructure begins with a question: how can a project improve the relationship between the built environment and the natural systems around it?
We look for opportunities to conserve water, manage runoff close to its source, reduce erosion and support the natural functions of the landscape. This may involve harvesting rainwater, treating wastewater for appropriate reuse, encouraging infiltration or integrating planted drainage systems into the site.
Our approach combines these ambitions with careful technical assessment. Ground conditions, climate, available space and maintenance needs guide our recommendations, helping us develop solutions that are appropriate for their setting and useful over time.

Paterne founded CERi to bring civil engineering and environmental responsibility into closer alignment.
His work spans civil site design, stormwater management, water and wastewater infrastructure, and hydrologic and hydraulic studies. He works closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams to translate project ambitions into coordinated, practical engineering solutions.
His approach starts with understanding the site and carries through to the details that shape construction, operation and long-term performance.
